Mediaset News: A new era with Alfalite screens as a backdrop
Andrés Díaz Díaz, Director of Engineering and Maintenance of Television Systems at Mediaset España, meticulously explores the principles and technological advances that have been fundamental in creating the renewed news studio of Telecinco, marking a significant milestone in the technological strategy of the network.
In-house work starring screens
“As Director of Engineering and Maintenance of Television Systems at Mediaset España, I have the privilege of leading innovative projects that set the pace in the audiovisual industry. The new Telecinco News studio is no exception. In this project, we decided to take the reins from the beginning, involving the engineering team of Mediaset España to independently develop and install the different solutions that make up this visually stunning space.”
Comprehensive Development and Management
Mediaset, after research for this project, chose Alfalite and Datos Media Technologies S.A.. From the outset, both companies engaged with Mediaset to define the final specifications for the supply, installation, and configuration of these screens, with novel and cutting-edge elements within the Spanish broadcast panorama.
The Screens: Undisputed Protagonists
“At the heart of the studio are the impressive screens, the true stars of the production. These are not just conventional screens; they are the result of cutting-edge technology and innovative design. With notable dimensions and exceptional visual quality, these screens not only fulfill their aesthetic function but also incorporate features that make them unique in the current television landscape.”
Advanced Technology and Energy Efficiency
“The screens integrated into the studio are state-of-the-art, with Spanish patents highlighting their innovation. With a total surface area of 120 m2, these screens not only offer exceptional visual quality with HDR and brightness of up to 1900 nits but also stand out for their energy efficiency, generating a 40% electricity savings. This sustainability focus was fundamental throughout the design and development process of the project.”
Innovation in Motion: Hanging Screens
“In addition to the main screens, the studio features three hanging screens for vertical imagery. These screens maintain the same advanced technology as the rest and are suspended using motors that allow independent movement. This flexibility provides us with the ability to adapt to specific production and direction needs, while the careful selection of motors and control systems ensures the necessary safety and reliability in this dynamic environment.”
“In summary, the new Telecinco News studio is the result of hard work, constant innovation, and an in-house approach that allowed us to bring our ideas from conception to reality. I am incredibly proud of the engineering team at Mediaset España and excited to see how this project continues to impact and elevate television standards in Spain and beyond.”
